Here are three lessons on meetings that had a walk through the forest.
1) Giant Sequoias
These trees are a wonderful living example that some things take time.
Certainly, we need to work with a sense of urgency. We must do more with less. We must move faster than the speed of chaos.
And we must also be appropriate.
In some burning questions can produce false solutions.
For example, a group slap together an annual plan for a finding that the plan does not reflect actual market conditions, organizational boundaries and individual support. The result is a document that nobody uses.
For example, a powerful group makes a decision without listening to others' ideas. And then a bad situation becomes worse. In fact, sometimes neglected side response with such force that the original group loses status.
Better: Take the time to ensure that all the considerations contained in the plans and decisions. If you schedule a meeting to settle an important issue, hire a trained facilitator to help you get a result that lasts.
2) A Bear
This bear was behaving like a baby bear all goofy mom went about his business collecting groceries in a supermarket. The bear climbed on logs, fallen rocks, and dropped things about Mom. And throughout the game, the mama bear just kept on working, eating plants, food gathering.
In other words, she continued to eat until the CUB ran towards me. Then mama bear looked up, grunted, chased after the CUB. (I guess that's what she does, because I ran away when Mama bear growled.)
What's the point?
Sometimes, we must allow an appropriate amount of disorder, because it's part of growth. This is to let people explore. This is to let the people themselves. Of course, when threats appear, then we should support. And we may only need Growl to restore order.
3) Mustang Clover
In spring, the mountains of the Sierra Nevada are covered with spots Mustang Clover. These small flowers (usually less than half an inch in diameter) resemble small pink simple points that you pass them. But if you pause and look closely, you discover a masterpiece of intricate beauty.
Point: Are you pause to notice important details? Some reminders may be just how nice life can be wonderful. Others may be key indicators on the health of your business.
