The other day I was reading a very interesting article about the shark attack that occurred so again in 1916. He played off along the North East Coast of the United States and concerned a great white shark, which had been had been terrorizing New Jersey coast.

Now everyone knows and accepts that the shark is a creature of the sea and the salty water needed to survive. Because nobody thought that people can attack them in fresh water, but it is exactly what happened later that year.

This particular shark remained near the shore and eventually swam up the river on the Raritan Bay, go for a pair of bathers upstream.

Shortly before the attacks occurred, Retired Sea Captain, by name Thomas Cottrell saw this shark swimming upstream path of the bridge. He could not believe their eyes, but still got in his boat and raised the alarm. Not surprisingly no one believed him. "A shark in the river? C'mon, get real, it is not possible."

But you know what? As unbelievable as it seemed it was a shark in the river and all those who do not heed the warnings were in danger of being attacked.

Finally, this shark killed two people. The first victim was a teenager who may or may not have heard the warning Cottrell today. Shortly after that attack another man jumps in lake to search for victims, even though he said it is a shark in the water. He also was attacked and died from severe loss of blood.

While reading this I could not help thinking about September 11 and see the parallel between these two stories.

When asked by the U.S. Congress and the media, why the "evidence" to being picked up were disregarded is the head of the FBI and CIA as members of Bush replied: "We do not think they would use airplanes as missiles."

Had the FBI and the CIA believed that something like what happened on 9 / 11 was possible that they could have put measures in place that would probably have prevented this happening. But they do not, even though the hijackers left dozens of "evidence."

Similarly, if the swimmer on U.S. East Coast had considered Captain Cottrell when he told them it was a shark in the river, are the chances that no one had been killed by the shark on the day.

But because they believed it is "impossible" for people to find in fresh water they disregarded the warning altogether, as U.S. law enforcement bodies did, resulting in many pay with their lives.

On the other hand are people who overcame extraordinary odds and accomplished great feat. Everyday we hear stories of people who were told from so-called "experts" that they did not what it took, but did the same.

The lesson here is that something is possible, both good and bad. By believing or not believing in something does not mean that you will not be affected by what happens. But it means that based on what you believe, you can take some action that may save you from something terrible or may get out of terrible circumstances.

There are many of us who are in terrible conditions, including poverty, unhappiness, bonds, etc. Those of us who have changed their position, did so because they believe that they could do it.

Those who do not obviously do not believe they can change their situation otherwise they would have done something about it, right?

How many opportunities have you missed because you thought it would not work or was not possible. Just think what you could do if you believe that you could do something, even reaching your dreams?

What great talent you have you have done nothing about, because you believed likely that you can not do it.
